Scope and Purpose
This course is intended to provide guidance and information on the ballast water system, ballasting and deballasting procedure to control structural stresses, and on the control and management of ballast water and sediments. Analysis of the potential problems that could be encountered during ballasting / deballasting operations, and ballast water exchange at sea.
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Understand the requirements International Convention for the Control and Management of Ships’ Ballast Water and Sediments (BWM Convention)
- Gained knowledge with the ballast water exchange and hazards
- Understand the key principles of BWM Convention
- Explain the Port State Control requirements of Ballast Water Management
- Describe the sampling and monitoring procedures required
- Understand the Company specific Ballast Water Management procedure. (As required)
