Scope and Purpose
This training course is designed to enable the candidates to
successfully demonstrate some elements of the STCW Code, Table A-II/1 that
specifies the minimum standard of competence for officers in charge of a
navigational watch for operational level.

At the end of this training, the participants shall be able to:
- Know and understand navigation procedures and radar watchkeeping.
- Explain proper procedure on appraisal, planning, execution and monitoring on passage planning and chart works.
- Create a comprehensive passage plan using navigational aid.
- Apply the International Regulations for Preventing Collisions at Sea in practice.
- Describe different bridge equipment and its use, including maintenance and routine checks.
- Explain the duties and responsibilities of an OOW during navigation.
- Gain understanding of basic GMDSS and navigational warnings and the importance of filing and recording.
- Explain basic ship handling and maneuvering.
- Understand the condition and when to call the Master.
- Compute basic Navigational computation (ETA, speed required, etc.).
- Gain knowledge in the requirements and procedures of port state control and vetting inspection
- Demonstrate the minimum standard of competence for officers in charge of a navigational watch for operational level
