Scope and Purpose
The course is designed and developed for OIC-NW who are assigned to be employed onboard Oil/Product Tanker vessels, in accordance with the company's Tanker Operating procedures. This is a preparatory course for OIC-NW prior to promotion to Chief Officer.
- Knowledgeable in Industry requirements in Tanker Cargo Operations
- Understand the Inert Gas System, VECS, and Venting System
- Learn the Tank Cleaning and Crude Oil Washing procedures
- Know the different types of pumps and operational principles such as Positive Displacement and Dynamic Pumps
- Identify the main causes of Tanker Operation Incidents
- Calculate basic liquid cargo and interpret vessel stability using a locator
- Enhance the competence in cargo operations using a Cargo handling simulator
