Scope and Purpose
The program aims to communicate and motivate leaders that safety culture is a collective commitment to safety, that is not focus only on individuals but on the team both onboard and ashore and the organization. Safety performance programs that are managed from the top and bottom up are a vital element in achieving a solid safety culture. The program will equip leaders to take the lead on safety issues so that they not only discharge their personal obligations but also improve the safety culture and performance of the organization by increasing their awareness and understanding of the key human factors as well as acquire and develop tools and practical skills to enhance their effective safety leadership accountability and capability. Everyone must possess a set of right attitude and behavior demonstrating that safety issues and concerns receive the attention it warranted. Behaviors are the “ingredients” that pull everything together that lead to a safe job completion.
- Explain the line of sight on safety responsibility and accountability from the vessel managers, marine superintendents, and senior officers
- Explain the concepts of safety performance and human element onboard ship
- Demonstrate safety mindset through SLE and case analysis all the knowledge, understanding and proficiency acquired during the program
