Scope and Purpose
The course covers general information on Dry bulk cargo handling operation and guidance from the IMSBC Code when loading solid bulk cargo. It covers explanation and handling guidance on typical dry bulk trade operations such as grain, coal, iron ore, and timber products.
At the end of the course, learners will be able to:
- Describe safe handling, stowage, and securing of Solid Bulk Cargoes
- Classify the different categories of Solid Bulk Cargoes
- Identify the hazards associated with handling various types of Solid Bulk Cargoes
- Understand the loading and discharging associated task which involves ballasting and de-ballasting operations
- Demonstrate various loading and stability calculations for different types of solid bulk cargoes
